Aquacell PPE Research & Prototype Development

Aquacell COVID-19 PPE R&D and commercialisation project

From concept to physical prototype: a new face mask designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and similar viruses.

The problem

Early in the pandemic there was demand for protective equipment that went further than off-the-shelf masks.

The approach

Iterative design and CAD, rapid physical prototyping and performance validation, alongside a commercialisation plan.

The outcome

Working prototypes and a plan covering proof-of-concept testing, redesign, market promotion and a cost-effective supply chain.

In detail

Worked with Aquacell on the research and development of a new personal protective equipment concept for reducing transmission of COVID-19 and similar transmissible viruses. The project progressed from early concept development through iterative design and generation of physical prototypes. The associated commercialisation plan covered proof-of-concept testing, product re-design, market promotion and development of a cost-effective supply chain for future production.
